Arab Weather - The Ministry of Local Administration said that it has developed an integrated plan in the main emergency room in the ministry, 100 emergency rooms in the municipalities and 17 emergency rooms in the joint services councils in various regions of Jordan, with the aim of dealing with the weather situation that the Kingdom will witness starting tomorrow, Wednesday.

 

And in view of what the Meteorological Department announced about the Kingdom being affected by an air depression accompanied by a very cold air mass of polar origin, the Ministry declared a state of extreme emergency in its main room in the Ministry’s center in Amman and all emergency rooms in the municipalities and joint services councils in the Kingdom, in order to deal with the weather situation.

 

The Ministry issued an urgent circular to municipalities, joint services councils and municipal affairs directorates in various regions of the Kingdom, to start from today preparing for the weather, which stated:

In view of the expected weather conditions on Wednesday and Thursday 26-27/1/2022 and for the purposes of ensuring maximum readiness to deal with the upcoming depression to work on the following:

  1. Raising the level of the state of emergency to the maximum degree.
  2. Opening emergency rooms 24 hours and staying ready to deal with emergency cases that may accompany this depression, in coordination with the central emergency room in the ministry, in addition to operating and emergency rooms in ministries, institutions and other relevant official departments.
  3. Ensure the readiness of the necessary mechanisms to deal with the weather, with the need to provide a sufficient reserve of fuel for all mechanisms.
  4. Distribution of mechanisms before entering the depression at their work sites in various regions.
  5. Securing your working mechanisms with appropriate tracks and tires to be able to move in different weather conditions.
  6. Provide a sufficient number of water suction motors and ensure that they are ready to work.
  7. In the event of snowfall, work to follow up the opening of roads in a timely manner to avoid their accumulation, especially the main roads, and to give priority to the streets that serve citizens and public utilities, most notably: (health centers, bakeries, gas stations, cemeteries, .... etc.).
  8. Periodically inspect valleys, torrents, ferries, water gathering places and hot spots.
  9. Making warning signs and placing them in dangerous areas and around excavations, and obligating contractors to fencing their work areas.
  10. Alert citizens living near low-lying areas, valley edges, and areas of torrential rains to take precautions and deport them if circumstances so require.
  11. Ensuring the readiness of the shelter centers that were previously equipped to receive citizens when needed.
  12. Allowing municipalities and joint service councils to rent vehicles in cases of necessity during the depression.
  13. Providing the logistical support and administrative services necessary to enable the teams on duty to work in conditions that enable them to accomplish the tasks assigned to them. These services are summarized as follows:
  14. Subsistence: Providing the necessary food and drink for the duration of the work period.
  15. Housing: Providing an adequate sleep for those whose nature of work requires residency in the work centre.
  16. Fuel: Securing sufficient heating, lighting and fuel requirements for operating mechanisms.
  17. Transportation: Securing services for workers and transporting them according to their work requirements.
  18. Providing the Ministry of Local Administration, through the electronic winter emergency system, with reports on the weather situation and accidents that are dealt with and treated according to the mechanism approved by the system.

On a related level, the Ministry emphasized that the municipalities, joint services councils and municipal affairs directorates in the governorates and districts coordinate and cooperate fully with the administrative rulers and other operating and emergency rooms affiliated with the Ministries of Public Works and Housing, the Interior, Civil Defense, the Jordanian Armed Forces and the Greater Amman Municipality in their regions and to provide all efforts and capabilities available to them to face cases And emergency events that may accompany the depression.

 

The state of emergency comes due to the Kingdom being affected, starting tomorrow, Wednesday, by an air depression of polar origin.

 

Accordingly, the Ministry of Local Administration calls upon the citizens to be careful and drive vehicles carefully and attentively to avoid the risk of slipping on the roads in areas witnessing rain and snowfall, and low horizontal visibility due to the formation of fog and clouds touching the surface of the earth above the mountainous heights, in addition to the danger The intensity of the winds and the accompanying flashes, and the possibility of low horizontal visibility also in some areas of the Badia.

 

The ministry also warns citizens of the dangers of torrential rains in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Dead Sea area.
