Arab Weather - Arab Weather specialists confirmed that the latest updates from computer simulations indicate that Iraq will be affected during the end of this week by a low pressure system in all layers of the atmosphere centered on the northwestern Badia regions, causing significant weather fluctuations, most notably strong winds that raise dust and showers of rain.
In detail, a low pressure system is centered over western Iraq during Friday's daylight hours, causing active, warm southwesterly winds to blow over southern and central Iraq, accompanied by strong gusts that will cause dust waves and raise temperatures to become 2-3 degrees Celsius higher than their average for this time of year. The weather will be warm in these areas, including the capital, Baghdad.
As for the northern and western regions, they will begin to be affected during the daytime hours by the cold part of the low pressure system, as temperatures drop and relatively cold to cold weather prevails, and clouds appear at different altitudes, and showers of rain fall, which are heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, while some rain showers are likely to extend randomly to limited areas of the center and south of the country, sometimes accompanied by thunder.
During the hours of Friday/Saturday night, Iraq will be increasingly affected by a cold air mass coming from the eastern basin of the Mediterranean Sea, so temperatures will drop sharply starting from the northern and western regions, passing through the late night and dawn hours towards the rest of the regions, including the capital, Baghdad, so that the temperature differences between day and night will be 9-12 degrees Celsius.
Clouds appear at different heights, and showers of rain fall, which are heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms and hail in the northern regions, while some showers of rain are likely to extend randomly to additional regions, especially in the south of the country, including Basra, accompanied by thunder at times.
