Agriculture clarifies the date for the stability of vegetable prices in the Jordanian market, after it witnessed an unprecedented rise

Weather of Arabia - The media spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture, Lawrence Majali, confirmed that the decrease in local production is due to the state of climate change and the decrease in temperatures unlike what they are accustomed to, and this led to a decrease in local production; Where it was estimated that the local production decreased to more than 25%.

With stable and high temperatures, production will return to its normal course, and is expected to reach 3,500 tons per day before the holy month. Al-Majali also stressed that the drop in temperatures did not completely negatively affect the crops, but only reduce productivity.

We expect price stability before and the beginning of the holy month, and the availability of vegetables in the right quality and quantities for local needs.

He stressed that we have stability in the Jordanian table, through the availability of poultry of the quality and quantities that the market needs, in addition to red meat, after the ministry opened the door to import for multiple origins, which led to the availability of these quantities in the local markets.

This calls for citizens not to rush to buy before and during the holy month of Ramadan, as the citizen’s consumption pattern and the increase in demand will eventually lead to raising the prices of goods in the markets, according to the principle of supply and demand, which no one desires, although it happens every year.

The quantities of wasted food, and the expansion of banquets, especially the “show” that do not target the poor, the needy and the deprived, have a large share of our food annually.

This is a call for citizens to change the consumption pattern in line with the current circumstances, and to stay away from the greedy consumption pattern. We must also remember that many poor people need food, and they cannot manage to find it.. Ramadan Mubarak and Happy New Year.
