Arab Weather - The World Health Organization (WHO) said the Americas bear the brunt of the Coruna virus epidemic in the world today, as there are four of the 10 countries most affected by the pandemic in North and South America.
Mike Ryan, WHO's chief emergency expert, said the disease was "very active" in Central America and South America, citing problems in Brazil and Mexico.
He added in a press conference that the current situation in Brazil, one of the hot spots of the virus at the present time, raises increasing concern, especially in cities with high population density, according to "Reuters".
He pointed out that the health system in Brazil "is still keeping pace" with the situation, but some intensive care units are in a critical stage and under great pressure, with more than 90 percent of the family working.
The WHO said that Mexico had approximately 130,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and more than 15,000 deaths.
Reuters reported that Brazil is the second most affected country by the epidemic, with more than 800 thousand injuries and 41 thousand deaths.
The two countries are the United States, the country worst hit by the epidemic, with more than two million cases and nearly 114,000 deaths.
