An earthquake in the Mediterranean Sea lost its water... Controversy in Egypt and the authorities clarify

The Cabinet Media Center revealed that it had contacted the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research to verify the matter, which completely denied the veracity of all the news circulating.

The National Institute for Astronomical Research confirmed that there is no truth to the receding of sea water from some beaches as a result of tsunami waves resulting from earthquakes in the Mediterranean Sea. He explained that the decrease in water levels on these beaches is a natural phenomenon that occurs due to climate change, and is linked to tidal movements, and has nothing to do with destructive hurricanes.

The National Institute for Astronomical Research reassures citizens

The institute also stressed that the water level will rise again at a specific and natural date, calling on citizens not to be led by false news that aims to create panic among them, and the importance of obtaining information from official sources.

The statement indicated that the seismic activity causing the tsunami waves in Bahrain and the Mediterranean is very weak compared to the rest of the regions on the surface of the Earth.

This came after stations monitoring water movement in the seas detected a decrease in water levels on those beaches. Social media platforms in Egypt circulated news and pictures of a significant decline in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea in several coastal cities such as Port Said and Port Fouad, which sparked panic among Egyptians who flock to the northern coasts coinciding with summer vacation and the hot summer season.

It is noteworthy that the local authorities in Egypt have closed a number of beaches during the past two days in various cities along the northern Egyptian coast, such as the beaches of Marawah Governorate, Port Said, Damietta, and Kafr El-Sheikh, due to high waves and wind activity, in order to ensure the safety of citizens.
