Arab Weather - Weather experts at the Arab Weather Regional Center said that weather maps specializing in monitoring air mass movements show that the northern Arabian Peninsula is being affected by an early and unusual cold wave for this time of year, specifically northern Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, where temperatures are colder than average. On the other hand, a high pressure system and a warmer air mass will dominate central Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Bahrain until Wednesday.

The effects of the cold wave reach central and eastern Saudi Arabia on Thursday and Friday and deepen towards the rest of the Arabian Gulf countries

Computer simulation results indicate that the effects of the cold air mass causing the cold wave will deepen towards central and eastern Saudi Arabia, and gradually extend towards Bahrain and Qatar, reaching the Emirates, starting on Thursday and the weekend. Temperatures will continue to drop gradually and sharply compared to the past days, and the temperature differences between Wednesday and the weekend will reach about 13-15 degrees Celsius in various Gulf cities.

Colder than usual weather prevails in central and eastern Saudi Arabia, where maximum temperatures range between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius, after recording in the early thirties in previous days, and drop at night to levels similar to those in winter, where the weather is very cold and requires wearing warmer clothes.

A significant drop in temperatures in Bahrain, Qatar, the Emirates and the north of the Sultanate

With the arrival of the effects of the air mass with cooler than usual temperatures towards Qatar, Bahrain and the Emirates, extending with lesser effects towards the north of the Sultanate, temperatures will continue to drop significantly at the end of the week, with cool weather prevailing during the day in Bahrain and Qatar, and pleasant in the Emirates and northern Oman. Daytime temperatures will range between 18-22 degrees Celsius in various regions, amidst an atmosphere completely different from what it was recently.

Night temperatures will also drop to around 12-14 degrees Celsius, making the atmosphere relatively cold, especially during the dawn and early morning hours in the interior areas and those far from marine influences, while they will be higher than that in coastal areas with the appearance of low clouds that may be accompanied by scattered showers of rain in some areas.

Active winds with strong gusts and great disturbance of waves in the Arabian Gulf

Weather maps of wind movement indicate that the same air mass is accompanied by active northwesterly winds with strong gusts, especially at sea, where the gusts exceed 60 km/h in the Arabian Gulf region, causing significant disturbance to the waves, with waves reaching about 3 meters in height. The active winds also cause an increase in dust concentration and dust storms in many areas, especially desert and exposed areas, which limits horizontal visibility.
