Arab Weather - Sinan Khalaf - "Specialists at the "Arab Weather Regional Center" are monitoring around the clock the latest satellite images, which indicate that the low pressure area centered east of the Arabian Sea has turned into a tropical depression that could develop, moving westward toward the southwestern sector of the Arabian Peninsula. It is expected to affect 4 Arab countries to varying degrees, namely the Sultanate of Oman, the Emirates, and Yemen."
According to the latest analyses issued by the weather forecast team, the Sultanate of Oman is expected to be directly affected by the tropical condition starting Monday night, as cumulonimbus clouds will begin to flow towards the coasts, and showers of varying intensity will fall, expanding to include large parts of the Sultanate on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the rain will become heavy at times and cause valleys and floods to flow.
According to the latest computer modelling outputs, it is expected that different parts of the UAE, especially the eastern and northern parts, will be affected by the remnants of tropical moisture on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, in the form of cumulonimbus clouds that will be active primarily in the mountains, and may extend to some interior parts, accompanied by showers of varying intensity.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will not be far from the effects of the tropical condition, but to a limited extent. It is expected that quantities of thunderstorm clouds will form in the Rub' al Khali region and parts of Najran starting from Wednesday night until Friday, accompanied by limited local showers of rain, and God knows best.
Thunderstorms are also expected to include the eastern and central parts of Yemen, accompanied by moderate to heavy rains starting from Wednesday afternoon until the end of Thursday, with a high probability of flash floods and torrents and rising water levels in the aforementioned areas, and God knows best.
