Baalbek .. the steadfast ancient city in Lebanon

Baalbek or "Heliopolis" as it was known is the site of great ancient temples built by the Phoenicians, Romans and many other civilizations that occupied the region and enjoyed the fertile soil of the Bekaa Valley.

One of the most important landmarks in the city is the Roman Citadel, which includes a number of the most famous temples, such as the Temple of Bacchus, the Greek god of wine, and Jupiter, the Roman god of light, sky and weather, in addition to the Temple of Venus.

Among other monuments, you will find the pregnant stone , which represents the largest carved stone in the world, and you can find it at the eastern entrance to the city of Baalbek.

As for the cave of flour , it is the oldest archaeological site in the region, and it consists of caves of limestone rocks located in the center of Mankaqat al-Sharawna.

You can also see many ancient heritage houses, Roman water channels and the shrine of the Dome of Dorus, which dates back to the Ayyubid era, as well as the "Ras Al-Ain" spring, which is surrounded by a number of heritage buildings.

You can reach Baalbek by taxi or by bus from Beirut, which stops several times on the way, and do not forget to take a jacket with you to wear it because the trip will be between the heights that can be cooler than Beirut, as Baalbek rises to 1163 meters above sea level.
