Arab Weather - Airplanes around the world may soon face the problem of cabin temperatures rising to significant levels. Due to worsening global temperatures and delayed take-offs as a result of increasing congestion at airports, according to a report by the American CNN network.

According to the Al Hurra website, citing CNN, there is currently no clear regulatory standard regarding cabin temperature during boarding. However, since 2018, the Association of American Flight Attendants (AFA) has called for a standard in the United States, with each airline dealing with the issue in its own way.
In July 2023 in Las Vegas, during the hottest summer on record according to NASA, emergency services had to deal with at least one passenger who was on a flight that was delayed for hours, leading to the cancellation of the flight. Sarah Nelson, president of the American Association of Flight Attendants, said: The temperature in the cabin was so high that several people had to be taken to hospital for medical treatment.
The Association of Flight Attendants of America has submitted a request to the Secretary of Transportation to set a maximum cabin temperature during boarding at 26.7 degrees Celsius, or 29.44 degrees Celsius if the entertainment screens are on.
Since the association launched an app where passengers and crew can report instances of cabin overheating, it has received more than 4,000 reports of extreme temperatures, of which 80% related to boarding.
Nelson says some airlines have internal policies that match or come close to the proposed standards. However, in the July 2023 incident, the cabin temperature was well above 37.77 degrees Celsius, illustrating that in the absence of federal controls, these policies are sometimes ignored.
The high temperature of the aircraft cabin while on the runway is because the engines cannot operate the air conditioning systems until after the aircraft has taken off. However, air conditioning systems can be powered via an auxiliary power unit (APU), a smaller engine intended to power electrical systems on the ground, but that would be expensive on fuel, so most airlines avoid doing so.
An airplane cabin is designed to heat up quickly, and the smaller the plane, the faster it will overheat. For this reason, it is advised to instruct passengers not to board the plane if the cabin temperature is higher than 29.44 degrees Celsius, and to ensure that there is an effective air conditioning system.
