Arab Weather - After analyzing the data of 26 inhabited meteorological stations affiliated with the National Center of Meteorology in 13 administrative regions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the National Center of Meteorology issued a report on the climatic situation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the year 2021, which included a summary of the state of the climate in the Kingdom during the past year.
The report included several data, including surface temperatures, precipitation, dusty and dusty phenomena and drought conditions.
With regard to precipitation, the report stated the following:
The year 2021 AD recorded less than the average, as it reached 62.9 mm, as it is estimated at 71% of the average rainfall for the reference period (1991-2020), and the order of 2021 was the fifth driest year compared to the reference period, while 2007 was the driest year in terms of Annual precipitation and 1997 the wettest year .
The report showed that the rainfall in the winter and summer seasons is slightly higher than the average due to the high rainfall for the months of February and July, while the rainfall rate remained below the normal rate for the rest of the months. Abha and Khamis Mushait stations recorded in July amounts higher than the average and were 84.5 mm and 88 mm, respectively, which is the highest rainfall in July (1985-2021).
According to the report, the number of days with more than 95 percent of rainfall and the intensity of rainfall in 2021 were both close to normal.
The 2021 SPI classifies drought conditions over a longer time scale, with moderate to severe drought in the eastern region and extending to the city of Riyadh.
