Weather of Arabia - The Saudi Space Agency launched the Kingdom’s astronaut program coinciding with the 92nd Saudi National Day in 2022, which aims to qualify experienced Saudi cadres to undertake long- and short-term space flights, participate in scientific experiments, international research, and future space-related missions, and benefit from the promising opportunities it offers. The space sector and its industries globally, and contributing to research that serves humanity in a number of priority areas such as health, sustainability, and space technology.
The Kingdom's astronaut program, which comes as an integrated package under the umbrella of Vision 2030, includes sending Saudi astronauts and astronauts into space on missions to serve humanity, during which the first flight was launched in 2023 and included the first female Saudi astronaut crew. Thus, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recorded an important historical event through Sending the first Saudi woman into space.
Manned spaceflight is a measure of countries' superiority and global competitiveness in many fields such as technological and engineering progress, scientific research and innovation.
The official emblem of the Kingdom's scientific mission to the International Space Station ( ISS ), which was launched on May 21, 2023, carrying the first Saudi and Arab Muslim astronaut, Rayana Barnawi, and Ali Al-Qarni, who is also the first Saudi astronaut to reach the International Space Station.
The logo embodies the lofty goals of the Kingdom’s scientific mission to empower humanity, protect planet Earth, and open new horizons through a group of research conducted by astronauts in the fields of health and environmental sustainability. The logo also adorned the official uniform of the flight crew, as it is customary for all space flights to have Official logo for each flight before the crew leaves Earth for space.
The mission's slogan confirms the Kingdom's aspirations and commitment to supporting space exploration efforts, and enhancing the role of the nation's people in space programs and its fields of science and technology, to achieve the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which seeks to highlight the Kingdom's role in the space sector and its technologies.
