Egypt launches its new satellite `Nilesat 301`

Weather of Arabia - Yesterday evening, Wednesday, Egypt succeeded in launching the new satellite "Nilesat 301", on board the "Falcon 9" missile from the "Cap Canaveral" base, in the US state of Florida.

The new moon separated from the Falcon rocket and headed into its orbit around the Earth, in preparation for receiving the first signal from it.

In a statement on the sidelines of the launch ceremony, Hussein Zein, head of the Egyptian National Media Authority, confirmed that the new moon covers the countries of southern Africa and many areas in the Nile Basin countries.

Zain indicated that the new moon will also increase internet speeds in Egypt in order to comply with international standards.

The new moon has multiple technical capabilities. It has a life span of 15 years, weighs 4.1 tons, and includes 38 lunar channels, compared to 26 lunar channels in the current moon 201, especially as it will expand the scope of its current coverage, adding to it the countries of southern Africa and the Nile Basin countries.

For his part, Dr. Alaa Al-Nahri, Vice President of the Remote Sensing Authority, said that the satellite that was launched today is a replacement for the “Nilesat 201” satellite, whose default period or validity period ends in 2028, and the state should have launched a new satellite during this period, because the Union International Telecom sets a specific period for launching a new satellite.

Al-Nahry explained that the new satellite has new technology, as it is distinguished from the old satellite in 3 points: "It eliminates the so-called piracy, as it can confront piracy through the modern technology with which it works. It also helps in sending and broadcasting good radio and television broadcasts." It can withstand interference to a large extent."

He added, "This satellite contains a dual system, as it works on broadcasting radio and television, in addition to its ability to communicate and the Internet, and the old satellite did not have the Internet."

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Satellite Company, Ahmed Anis, indicated that "all beneficiaries will accept the frequencies of the new satellite channels, without any need to make changes in their receivers."

He also revealed that "the new satellite is currently under the control of 4 satellite stations, a station in South Korea, another in Italy, and a third in France, in addition to the Nilesat station in Egypt in the 6th of October City."

He stressed that "after the completion of the experimentation operations for the frequencies of the new moon, Egypt will take over the process of controlling and fully operating it by next July 20."
