Arab Weather - With the beginning of the fall season and the return to winter time, many citizens are looking for the start date of the new time, as the clock is set back 60 minutes. This is in accordance with Law No. 24 of 2023 regarding determining the summer and winter time system.
The law stipulates that the legal time in Egypt is advanced by 60 minutes starting from the last Friday of April until the end of the last Thursday of October of each Gregorian year, after which winter time is returned.
The Egyptian government began implementing daylight saving time again in April 2023, seven years after it was cancelled. The aim of this decision was to rationalize the consumption of energy of all kinds, such as electricity, gasoline, diesel, and gas, especially in light of the global economic conditions.
The House of Representatives has finally approved a bill to reinstate daylight saving time. Under the law, clocks will be moved forward by 60 minutes from the last Friday in April through the last Thursday in October. The change is part of efforts to conserve energy and reduce costs associated with operating it.
On April 16, 2023, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ratified Law No. 34 of 2023, which regulates the implementation of the summer and winter time system, confirming the return of summer time after a period of suspension.
