Floods cause at least 70 crocodiles to escape from a farm in China

ArabiaWeather - About 70 crocodiles managed to escape from a farm in China after floods, which led to the mobilization of the competent government agencies to catch them.

The affected area is home to a crocodile amusement park, especially since it is “the largest crocodile breeding base in the country,” according to the Chinese National Research Council. Crocodiles are raised in China for their skins as well as their meat, and are sometimes used in traditional medicine.

How did the crocodiles escape?

After 3 days of rain, floods around the city of Maoming in Guangdong Province in China caused a lake at a commercial crocodile farm to overflow, leading to the escape of more than 70 crocodiles.

The authorities were able to keep at least 69 large crocodiles and 6 small crocodiles on the farm
