Arabiaweather.com- The fog and the National Day holiday combined at the same time to cause the largest traffic crisis in history, when about 750 million citizens, "nearly half of the people" decided to return to their homes at the same time, after the end of the National Day holiday.

The Chinese government had issued a decision to suspend working hours from the first to the seventh of October, in celebration of the country's National Day, so that citizens would seize the opportunity to leave their cities and travel for self-entertainment, but their return at the same time, in conjunction with the foggy atmosphere, caused the crisis.

According to reports issued by the Chinese Ministry of Transport and published by the "Xinhua" news agency, the reduction of the number of road lanes, which amounted to 50 lanes to 20 only, in favor of the new checkpoints, in addition to the high densities due to the long vacation, caused the crisis.

The smog that engulfs the Chinese airspace is also considered one of the causes of the crisis, as it causes a significant decrease in the horizontal vision range.
