Arab Weather - Since the beginning of the week, Egypt has been affected by a low pressure system and a cold air mass, accompanied by a significant drop in temperatures from their usual rates at this time of year, and high wind speeds, which led to sandstorms and turbulent waves in both the Mediterranean and Red Seas. Cold, cloudy and rainy weather prevailed at times in many northern regions of the republic.
Meteorologists at the Arab Weather Regional Center said that the effects of the low pressure system and the cold air mass will recede from Egypt during the daytime hours of Wednesday, as temperatures rise slightly while remaining at winter levels during the night, reaching 7-10 degrees Celsius in some areas in large areas of the country, while approaching zero degrees Celsius over the high mountainous elevations, especially in the Sinai Peninsula. Very cold and very cold weather prevails over the mountainous elevations with the possibility of frost formation in those areas.
Low clouds will continue to appear in the northern regions, with some scattered rain showers on parts of the northeastern coasts and may extend to include the northern part of Lower Egypt. The winds will be moderate northeasterly, while they will be active northerly on the Red Sea coasts and the Gulf of Suez.
The computer simulation results at the Arab Weather Center indicate that the cold wave will begin to gradually and further recede from Egypt from Thursday and during the weekend, as temperatures continue to rise, but slowly, and become warmer than their average for this time of year by about 2-4 degrees Celsius. Mild weather prevails during the day in various northern regions, with temperatures reaching twenties in the capital, Cairo, and various regions.
With the continued appearance of low clouds, they may be accompanied by local light rain, mostly in some coastal areas. The winds will be northeasterly, moderate in speed, sometimes active in southern Upper Egypt and the Red Sea coasts, leading to rough seas and stirring up sand on land.
Despite the expected rise in temperatures during the daytime and the recovery of the weather in the coming days, the weather will remain cold during the night and early morning hours, with minimum temperatures dropping to 10-12 degrees Celsius in the north of the country, while the weather will remain cooler in the desert areas. With the appearance of low clouds, it may lead to the formation of water mist that may reach the level of fog in the late night hours and early morning, especially on agricultural roads and those close to water bodies.
And God knows best.
