From the Arab Weather Center - The latest satellite images and data from global observatories indicate that tropical cyclone Helen has developed into a first-degree hurricane with maximum wind speeds exceeding 130 km/h around the center of the hurricane as it continues to move north toward the southern coasts of the United States of America.
God willing, it is expected that Tropical Cyclone Helen will continue to move north and northeast during the next few days, developing into a Category 3 hurricane as it passes over the Gulf of Mexico, which is witnessing significant warmth in the waters.
The hurricane is expected to make a direct impact on the coast of West Florida later this week, bringing heavy rains and strong winds, with more than 200-400 mm of rain expected in many counties, leading to flooding, high waves and inundation of coastal areas.
In light of these forecasts, mandatory evacuation orders have been issued for large areas of Florida's Gulf Coast, including areas such as Hillsborough County, which includes Tampa, and a state of emergency has been declared in 61 of Florida's 67 counties.
