In Iran, thousands of people visit hospitals because of air pollution

ArabiaWeather.com - Rami Muhammad - The head of the health department in the city of Ahvaz said that nearly 5,000 people visited the city's hospitals recently, as a result of air pollution in the region.

According to the head of the district department in the city, this smog occurred after lightning strikes and heavy rains that had this effect.

Another health official explained that acid rain caused symptoms of shortness of breath for a large number of those admitted to hospitals.

It should be noted that Ahvaz is a city dotted with oil wells and factories, and it is among the most polluted cities in Iran.

It is noteworthy that smog is formed over cities and industrial areas, and it is one of the types of pollution caused by exhausts and emissions from factories and cars, especially the hydrocarbon pollutants and nitrogen oxides that are emitted and transformed by sunlight into oxidized pollutants.

The impact of this type of pollution on health

The gases resulting from it affect heart and breathing patients and children, causing inflammation in the bronchi, lung failure and shortness of breath, and an increase in its concentration in the surface and low layers of the atmosphere may cause very serious complications.
