<p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr">ArabiaWeather.com - Khitam Amer - Researchers at the Massachusetts University of Technology recently found an alternative, environmentally friendly and inexpensive solution for long-lasting, biodegradable batteries, based on sugar.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"></p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> Researchers have been working on this technology for about four years, using natural sugar by heating carbon nanotubes in order to convert thermal energy into electrical energy.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"></p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> The results showed the ability to produce batteries that produce energy equivalent to those found in current modern electronic devices such as smart phones.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"></p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> The researchers explained that sugar batteries can be controlled in size to suit smart wearable devices and very small electronic devices, unlike current batteries.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"></p>
