Arab Weather - The latest numerical modeling analyses at the Arab Weather Center indicate that Jordan will be affected on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, by a new Khamasin low pressure system, accompanied by a relatively hot and dry air mass that will raise temperatures to the thirties, in addition to increasing dust levels in the atmosphere.
In detail, a Khamaseen depression centered northwest of Egypt is approaching the Kingdom on Tuesday, accompanied by a relatively hot and dry air mass. Therefore, temperatures will continue to rise significantly, exceeding their annual average for this time of year by about 10-12 degrees Celsius. The weather will be relatively hot, dry, and dusty in most parts of the Kingdom, and hot to very hot in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba, with maximum temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius in major cities, including neighborhoods of the capital, Amman, while they will approach 40 degrees Celsius in the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea.
The winds will be moderate southwesterly, with clear activity during the afternoon and evening hours, causing significant dust storms.
During the evening and night hours of Tuesday/Wednesday, the weather will be much warmer than usual, and a denser dust wave is expected. The atmosphere will become dusty over time, with the dust density increasing significantly in the late afternoon and night. There is also a possibility of light mud rain in the afternoon and evening hours in limited areas.
God willing, the low pressure system is expected to move away on Wednesday to center west of Iraq, causing temperatures to drop significantly, but remain 3-5 degrees Celsius above average. The weather will be warm but somewhat dusty, with some medium and high clouds appearing during the afternoon. Winds will be westerly and moderate in speed, with active gusts during the afternoon, and the winds will stir up dust of varying intensity.
In the desert regions, roads, and eastern plains, strong winds will blow in the afternoon and evening, causing dense dust storms, leading to a significant reduction in horizontal visibility and possibly zero visibility in those areas.
God willing, the Kingdom will be affected during the night hours of Wednesday/Thursday by a relatively cold and humid air mass pushing behind the Khamaseen depression. Therefore, temperatures will drop and the weather will become cold across all regions, with high humidity levels in the atmosphere and the appearance of low clouds that may lead to the formation of fog over the peaks of the mountainous heights, especially in the north and south of the Kingdom.
Significant temperature differences between day and night are expected, ranging from 10-15 degrees Celsius, reaching around 18-20 degrees in desert areas. These differences increase the risk of colds and seasonal illnesses, especially among children, requiring caution.
Recommendations from Arab Weather:
- Be aware of the risks of increased dust levels in the atmosphere and their impact on patients with respiratory and eye problems.
- Beware of the risks of reduced horizontal visibility due to dust, especially in the south and east of the Kingdom.
- Avoid prolonged and direct exposure to sunlight, especially for residents of the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba.
- Beware of the large temperature fluctuations between Tuesday and Wednesday, especially during the night hours.
And God knows best.
