Weather of Arabia - Briefing on the emerging COVID-19 virus in Jordan

Injuries, recovery and checks:
- 5 new cases of newly infected Corona virus were recorded in the Kingdom, as follows:
(3) Cases of truck drivers coming across the Al-Omari border, one of whom is Jordanian, and (2) non-Jordanians who were dealt with according to the established protocol.
Two cases of Jordanians coming from outside the Kingdom (Saudi Arabia and Britain).
This brings the total number of cases in the Kingdom to 739.
(15) cases of recovery were also recorded for this day: (2) in Prince Hamza Hospital, (5) in King Abdullah University Hospital and (8) in Queen Alia Hospital.
- 4349 laboratory tests were conducted, bringing the total number of examinations conducted to date (187,990).
Other actions:
Today, the 31st of May, is World No Tobacco Day; On this occasion, the Ministry of Health affirms its great concern to protect the health of citizens from the dangers of smoking in all its forms, especially in light of the spread of Corona virus, as smoking leads to health problems in the lungs and respiratory system, which may contribute to the spread of the disease.
• The Ministry of Health also calls on citizens to refrain from smoking, especially in enclosed and public places and workplaces. This is to ensure their safety and protect their health, prevent accelerated transmission and reduce complications of the disease.
• Today, a decision was taken with the exception of the movement of lawyers between the governorates from the (individual and marital) system, due to the nature of their work, and to enable them to access the courts and follow the progress of the litigation procedures. The decision also included extending the working hours of law firms to between eight in the morning until seven in the evening.
• The Ministry of Endowments, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites today circulated instructions for opening mosques, preventive and health procedures to be followed, and mechanisms for monitoring their application to endowment directorates in all governorates of the Kingdom, in preparation for the application of the decision to open mosques beginning on Friday, the fifth of June 2020.
• The Council of Church Presidents also today circulated precautionary and preventive measures to all churches in the Kingdom, in line with the decision to open churches starting on Sunday, the seventh of June 2020.
