ArabiaWeather.com - Mohammed Salameh - The King Abdullah Financial District ranks as one of the largest environmentally friendly development projects in the world, and the first urban development project to receive the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

The center covers an area of 1.6 million square meters, and is located north of the city of Riyadh. The Kingdom's traditions were used in the design process and the provision of natural ventilation in it, by exploiting the cold winds coming from the north.

The center contains a number of carefully and elaborately designed attractions to be an outlet, entertainment and educational forum for the residents and visitors of the complex.

Attraction buildings vary between museums, exhibitions, markets, conference and celebration centers, and include the Water Museum, the Museum of the Built Environment, the Earth Climate Center, the Science Museum, and other educational and recreational facilities.
