Learn about the hidden fees hotels charge guests

ArabiaWeather - Have you ever been surprised when you checked out of the hotel with fees that were not taken into account? What fees may apply to your stay, and more importantly, how can you avoid them?

The Independent Travel website reviewed some of the hidden and annoying fees that some hotels charge on guest bills:

Shuttle Service: Some hotels are starting to charge for airport transfers which are usually free, so ask before you assume it is free.

Bottled water and snacks: Think twice before touching the water bottle that the hotel left on your desk, as it can cost you about five dollars, and you should check with the front desk, before eating fruit, cake or other snacks in the room.

Gratuities: These are sometimes called "service fees", and these expenses may be charged daily or per stay, so look out for these fees, especially if you are traveling in a large group.

Cancellation: Please read the hotel's cancellation policy carefully, before you resort to the cancellation process.

Check-in and check-out: Some hotels charge a fee for early check-in or late check-out.

Energy Cost: In an effort to cope with rising energy costs, some hotels are charging an energy surcharge to their guests' bills.

Gardening fees: If your resort has areas of lawns, gardens, or golf courses, pay attention to that, and ask about cleaning and maintenance fees.

Safe: Some hotels charge a fee once a safe is in the guest room, even if it has never been opened, and the fee is supposed to cover both the cost of the safe and the insurance on its contents.

Internet: While a number of hotels provide free internet access, some of them require a fee, so make sure before checking in. Note that some hotels charge fees for Wi-Fi service according to the number of devices, not the room.

Luggage storage: If you have to store your bags a few hours after check-out, some hotels will charge you a few dollars for that.

Packages: Some hotels charge between $1 and $25 to receive packages, and fees may vary based on the size and number of packages.

Vehicle Fees: Some hotels will include a special fee on the bill for valet parking for guests.

Resort Fee: An additional fee of $10 to $60 applies daily and can include a wide range of services and amenities such as a business center, pool, gym, daily newspaper delivery, housekeeping, or free local calls; Even if you don't use any of these services.
