Less than 100 days until the start of the COP28, and the UAE is preparing to welcome the world

Weather of Arabia - The countdown to the launch of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change "COP28" COP 28 has begun, after less than 100 days at Expo Dubai, and the UAE is now preparing to receive representatives of the countries of the world participating in this conference that seeks to achieve the highest climate ambitions.

What is a COP conference?

Answer : It is annual talks sponsored by the United Nations to discuss the climate change crisis and what the countries of the world are doing to confront this problem. The talks will be attended by leaders of 197 countries and thousands of environmental activists, as well as representatives of major industrial companies, especially oil companies, to talk about their participation in reducing the levels of pollution they cause.

COP, short for "Conference of the Parties " or Conference of the Parties, is part of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, an international treaty signed by most countries in the world in 1992 with the aim of reducing the impact of human activity on the climate.

From November 30 to December 12, Dubai Expo City will host the "COP28" conference, which will be the largest international conference hosted by the UAE, and the most important global conference focused on addressing the repercussions of climate change.

On the occasion of the start of the countdown to the launch of the conference after 100 days, the UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and the appointed president of the conference, Sultan Al Jaber, said:

• In line with the vision of the leadership in the UAE, we focus on building bridges of communication and cooperation so that "COP28" will be an effective platform to achieve the highest climate aspirations, and to promote sustainable economic and social development for the benefit of present and future generations.
• In line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, on the importance of all segments of society playing an active role in contributing to building a sustainable future, responsible use of natural resources and preserving the environment, we invite all segments of society in the UAE to contribute to the success of hosting the "COP28" conference. And play an active role in supporting collective action in an effort to reduce the repercussions of climate change.
• COP28 will be an exceptional conference and a decisive station for us to unite, work, and achieve in order to build our common future.

What does the COP28 logo stand for?

Answer : The visual components of the logo highlight the relationship between humanity, nature, technology and innovation

The logo underscores the key messages of the COP and includes:

• A conference for cooperation, concerted efforts and building bridges of dialogue between North and South countries.
• Containing the government and private sectors, the scientific community, civil society, women, and youth, as all these groups were represented within the various symbols found in the visual identity.
• The slogan reinforces the emphasis on the approach of the Conference of the Parties to be practical, inclusive and contain all, and raise ambitions, to move the world from setting goals to implementing them on the topics of “mitigation”, “adaptation”, “financing”, and “losses and damages”.
