Arab Weather - Meteorologists at the Arab Weather Regional Center said that the latest data from what is called computer simulation indicates that the Gaza Strip will be affected in the coming days by a low pressure system accompanied by a cold and humid air mass. The low pressure system is expected to dump large amounts of rain approaching 100 mm in some areas, which will exacerbate the difficult humanitarian conditions of the people of the Strip.
Cold weather prevails during the hours of tonight and during the day tomorrow, Sunday, in all areas of the Gaza Strip, and scattered local showers of rain are likely to fall on some areas of the Strip at the forefront of the low pressure system that will begin to affect it later. The winds will be southwesterly, moderate in speed, and sometimes active, and the wave height will be between one meter and one meter and twenty centimeters on the various coasts of the Strip, God willing.
During the night hours of Sunday/Monday, the actual impact of the low pressure system on the Gaza Strip begins, so temperatures drop and the weather becomes cold in all areas. The amount of clouds gradually increases, as the weather becomes changeable between partly cloudy and cloudy, and rain falls at intervals, sometimes heavy and may be accompanied by thunder. The winds are southwesterly, moderate in speed, sometimes active with rain clouds.
The computer outputs at the Arab Weather Center show that the impact of the low pressure system on the Gaza Strip will intensify on Monday, Tuesday and until Wednesday evening, as the weather will become colder, especially at night. The weather will be wintry, cloudy and rainy at times, and the rain will be heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms at times, leading to water pools and rising water levels in many areas, adding a new burden on the displaced in unqualified tents.
The winds are active and cold, which increases the feeling of cold significantly. Wind gusts are expected to exceed 50 km/h at some times, which may have negative effects on the camps for the displaced, especially with the weak infrastructure of these camps and the lack of adequate means of protection. The waves are turbulent on the coasts of the Strip, where the height of the waves reaches about a meter and a half, with a high possibility of sea waves entering the land and coasts, which include a huge number of tents for the displaced.
The final rainfall is expected to be very large, ranging from 40 to 80 mm, and may reach 100 mm in some areas, leading to water pools and rising water levels amidst the deteriorating living conditions. May God help our brothers in the Strip. O God, bestow upon them the warmth of your mercy.
And God knows best.
