Arab Weather - Advanced numerical models at the Arab Weather Center indicate that the regions of northern Algeria and Tunisia will be affected by unusual summer thunderstorms in the coming days. As a result of a low pressure system centered in the upper layers of the atmosphere, it causes atmospheric disturbances that lead to the formation of cumulonimbus clouds with rain in several regions.
Arab Weather Center experts said that the computer simulation of rain forecasts indicates that thunderstorms will be concentrated particularly in the mountainous and coastal areas of northern Algeria and northern Tunisia, especially in the afternoon and evening hours of the coming days, and will continue until the end of the week. It is expected that the rain will be heavy at times and accompanied by thunderstorms and locally heavy hail showers, which increases the risk of flooding in low-lying areas, valleys and slopes. It is also expected that the rainfall will be accompanied by a noticeable activity in wind speed, which may lead to the occurrence of sandstorms during the passage of thunderclouds.
In parts of Morocco, computer models indicate that there will be a chance of some thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening, especially in mountainous areas. This is due to the influx of moist air masses from the Atlantic Ocean, which increases the possibility of cumulonimbus clouds forming, causing these rains.
The Arab Weather Center warns of the necessity of staying away from valleys and low-lying areas that may witness floods. In addition, the center advises avoiding outdoor activities during thunderstorms, and staying away from exposed areas and tall trees to avoid the risk of lightning.
God knows best.
