March 2022 was the coldest in 19 years

Weather of Arabia - During most days of March 2022, the Kingdom experienced strong and successive cold waves remarkably, sometimes accompanied by snow showers falling on separate areas and on more than one occasion during the month.

But how cold is this month compared to the same period in previous years, is this cold really unprecedented?

When calculating the average maximum temperature for the month of March 2022 for Amman Civil Airport, we find that it was around 14 degrees Celsius, while the average minimum temperature was around 5.5 degrees Celsius.

During the past few years, the Kingdom had previously been exposed to snow and cold waves during the month of March, the most prominent of which were March 2012 and March 2007, but with that, the coldness of this year exceeded all those occasions if we look at the general average of the month.

However, there was one previous year in which the cold during the month of March exceeded the coldness of this year, which is the month of March of the year 2003, during which the Kingdom witnessed extensive snowfall at the end of the month (25 and 26 March - 2003), which contributed to outstripping the coldness of that The month as a whole.
