Weather of Arabia - About sixty kilometers west of the capital, Amman, the Dead Sea extends horizontally on the edge of the collapse crater, and the panoramic view of this Dead Sea when viewed from the heights of the Balqa Mountains forms a blue square that reflects the color of the sky between the banks of Palestine and Jordan.
When the visitor drives his journey by car, which takes about an hour, he reaches the lowest point on the surface of the Earth. In this place, the visitor feels the change in the air, which is saturated with the smell of salt water, as it contains a high percentage of oxygen, reaching 36%.
The head of the Dead Sea Association, journalist Zaid Sawalqa, points out that the Dead Sea has no equal on the face of the earth, and is considered a unique tourist site that combines natural, therapeutic, recreational and religious tourism.
He adds that the weather in the Dead Sea region is wonderful in winter, as the temperature does not exceed 25 degrees Celsius, and the amount of rain is small. When it rains, tourists have the opportunity to enjoy the fine mist in a warm atmosphere, while feeling the air saturated with oxygen.

The Dead Sea has many historical names, including: Lake Lot and the Sea of Salt, and its name comes from its absence of plant and animal life, in addition to its high salinity, which reaches 34%, which is nine times the salinity of other seas.
It was mentioned by philosophers and historians, such as Aristotle and Honiamus of Cardii, and Arab geographers and travelers, including: Al-Yaqoubi, Ibn Khordadhabh, Al-Zuhri, and Yaqut Al-Hamawi, who indicated the presence of the therapeutic red mineral in it.
Since the area is about four hundred meters below sea level, the pressure plume is large, and is enveloped in a layer of ozone, which filters out ultraviolet rays that have healing properties for the skin and breathing. Dermatologist Dr. Hoda Al-Qudah confirms that the sun, oxygen, or climate and air are the basic elements in treating the respiratory system, bronchitis, and asthma, and that the nature of the sun, the composition of water, and its saturation with minerals treat skin diseases, psoriasis, and asthma, noting that these measures should be carried out under the supervision of a doctor.
Although swimming in the Dead Sea does not require special skills, as it is enough for a person to sit in the water to find himself floating due to the concentration of salt and the density of the water, diving or immersing the face in the water can be dangerous, as it can harm the eyes.

There are more than twenty elements and compounds in the Dead Sea water, including: calcium, manganese, bromine, magnesium, and sulfur. As a result of chemical interactions between salts, soil and water, therapeutic clay is formed, which is used in the manufacture of cosmetics and therapeutic preparations to treat cases of psoriasis and skin diseases.
Director of the Medical Tourism Directorate at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Suleiman Ammarin, says: “ The Dead Sea is the largest open natural resort, and its climate is characterized by the absence of moisture absorbed by salts.” He added that the majority of tourists seeking hospitalization come from Northern Europe, such as Sweden, Austria, and Finland.
He adds: "Hospitalization differs from traditional treatment because it depends on natural elements to treat some diseases, and the climate of the Dead Sea is suitable for treating respiratory diseases that are increasingly widespread in the Gulf regions due to dust and pollution."
