It is a mountainous and coastal city located in northern Morocco on the Mediterranean Sea and within the heights of the Rif Mountains. The city was founded in the 15th century and it is said that its name is in Berber and means "look at the mountain peaks".

The city of Chefchaouen is characterized by its architectural character, especially with the blue color that covers the houses, and because it is located between the topography of the highlands and slopes, the scene becomes more beautiful with the lineup of blue houses that are adorned with trees and small gardens.

To this day, the city maintains its traditional markets and also preserves its authentic music, such as the mountain taktuqa, and the annual Sufi music festival. Among the ancient neighborhoods in which there is the neighborhood of Al-Suwaiqa, Al-Andalus, Al-Sabanin, the source of water and Al-Anser neighborhood.

The Great Mosque, in turn, is distinguished by its Andalusian architecture and its large area. It was built by Muhammad bin Ali Al-Idrisi in the year 969 AD.

The Kasbah is one of the most important historical monuments in the city, and it is located in the western part of it. Ali bin Rashid once took it as a strategic place to house a barracks aimed at deterring Portuguese military interventions, as the ten towers surrounding it are still today and are built in the Andalusian style, and include the Kasbah. Also a large garden full of ponds.
