Public Works sprinkles salt on a number of roads in Jordan in anticipation of freezing

Arab Weather - The Ministry of Public Works and Housing began, since last night, sprinkling salt on a number of main streets, traffic bridges and slopes, to confront the expected freezing conditions during the night, according to data issued by the Meteorological Department.

The ministry confirmed in a press statement on Friday that salt is being spread along specific paths, on the northern, central and southern highlands, and that its machinery will continue the salt-sprinkling process until the freezing state ends and frost forms in the evening hours.

The Ministry's mechanisms and field teams have dealt with dozens of reports and observations since Wednesday during the low pressure system that hit the Kingdom. The Ministry's cadres demonstrated high professionalism and efficiency in dealing with these reports. The mechanisms also spread salt last night on a number of roads in Tafilah Governorate, Petra Region, and Shobak Heights.

The Ministry called on citizens to take caution on external roads, especially during the night hours, and to avoid driving in the late hours except in cases of extreme necessity, and to follow the data issued by the Meteorology Department and the Public Security Directorate, and to follow the instructions and warnings issued by the competent authorities.
