Arab Weather - The competent authorities announced the gradual start of the operation of the "Riyadh Metro" network project tracks starting from December 1, 2024, in order to ensure a smooth experience for users and achieve comfort and effectiveness in crowd management.

December 1, 2024:

• Blue Route: Al-Ulya Street - Al-Bathaa axis.
• Yellow lane: King Khalid International Airport Road axis.
• Purple Path: Abdul Rahman bin Auf Road Axis - Sheikh Hassan bin Hussein bin Ali Road.

December 15, 2024:

• Red route: King Abdullah Road axis.
• Green Path: King Abdulaziz Road Axis.

January 5, 2025:

Orange Track: The axis of the Madinah Road, thus completing the operation of all six tracks with a total length of 176 kilometers.

Opinion poll on using Riyadh train

According to a poll conducted by the National Center for Public Opinion Polls (Rai), which included 1,202 participants (57% males and 43% females):

1. 60% of respondents intend to use trains and public transport to work or study.
2. 65% have previously experienced the metro outside Saudi Arabia.
3. 71% believe the train will change their commuting habits.
4. 80% believe that the project will attract new investments to Riyadh.
5. 81% believe it will reduce traffic congestion.
6. 83% see its positive impact on the environment.

Favorite destinations by train:

• 31% for work or study.
• 30% for entertainment venues.
• 24% for shopping.
• 15% for visiting family and relatives.

Priorities for the population:

• 40%: Having a station close to work or home.
• 27%: Speed.
• 22%: Safety.
• 11%: Prevent harassment.

Riyadh Metro's initial capacity is one million passengers per day

Saudi Minister of Transport, Saleh Al-Jasser, stated that the Riyadh Metro project represents a qualitative leap in the infrastructure of transportation, with an initial capacity of up to one million passengers per day.
He also pointed out that the project enhances the quality of life and contributes to achieving the goals of the National Transport Strategy in accordance with the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

Leadership vision for project completion

Al-Jasser stressed that King Salman’s inauguration of the Riyadh Metro project reflects his future vision, as the project is one of the most modern transportation projects in the world, and an example of the great support provided by the Crown Prince to achieve sustainable progress in the Kingdom.

The Riyadh Metro is not just a means of transportation, but a qualitative leap towards a more sustainable and organized future for the lives of the capital’s residents.
