Weather of Arabia - Sinan Khalaf - The National Center for Wildlife Development in Saudi Arabia announced that the program to assess the damage and spread of baboons and find sustainable solutions is proceeding according to the plan developed with the participation of international experts.
The center confirmed that it has made great strides in monitoring and evaluating, identifying the foci and identifying the causes of the problem, in addition to implementing a number of urgent parallel measures in coordination and cooperation with the concerned authorities.
The center continued the need to launch awareness campaigns to stop feeding monkeys in the affected areas, spread awareness of best practices to avoid their dangers, allocate field teams to respond quickly to reports, and reduce the throwing of food waste that forms hotbeds for its collection.
The center said in a statement that, "after the completion of identifying the best solutions, the center will work to implement them in the affected areas, taking care that they are not temporary solutions, but that they are essential sustainable solutions that were reached through accurate diagnosis and comprehensive treatment to address the problem from its roots." .
The statement added: "Because the problem of the increasing numbers of baboons is an ancient multi-dimensional problem that is decades old, its treatment requires concerted efforts.
He added that the citizen has the most important role in treating it by stopping direct and indirect human feeding, which has a primary impact on animal behavior and the increase in its numbers, by paying attention to public cleanliness and stopping feeding it in residential neighborhoods and public roads to stop its attraction to populated areas.
