Weather of Arabia - The Emir of Hail, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saad bin Abdulaziz, named the dates of May 5 and August 5 of each year “Sun Day” in Hail, because they coincide with the phenomenon of the sun’s disk entering through the opening of the historic Hail Observatory on Mount Aja.
Historically, an opening in Mount Aja was used as a solar calendar observatory, where the beginning of the year was determined to be August 5th.
August 5th coincides with the entry of the sun into Leo, which was considered the fifth of the twelve signs among the Babylonians, which is reflected in the identical time period for observation.
The fifth of May is considered the beginning of a new cycle astronomically, which announces the time of agricultural harvest in Hail, while the sun returns three months later on the fifth of August to calculate the astronomical cycle of 365 days, and this coincides with the rising of the star Sirius at dawn on that day.
