Weather of Arabia - After the state of shock that the world experienced as a result of the devastating earthquake that struck parts of Turkey and Syria on Monday, February 6, 2023, with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale, scientific teams began conducting a field assessment of the disaster to detect the initial environmental effects of the earthquakes, and aerial photographs were taken Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) or Drones, trying to understand the magnitude of earthquakes and explain its causes and effects.
The research team discovered ruptures in the earth's surface in several active areas close to the eastern Anatolia rift system, and the ruptures caused a significant impact on buildings and parts of the road network, warehouses, irrigation canals, railways and other facilities and structures. It also caused deformation of agricultural land.
The following are shocking scenes of a surface rupture in Kahramanmaraş, where roads and agricultural lands were damaged, landslides and rocks fell along the crack, and parts of the road network were damaged, which temporarily disrupted traffic.

(A picture of the cracks observed in the road linking Antakya with the Reyhanli region was accompanied by the phenomenon of liquefaction, which occurs when the water-saturated soil sediments at or near the surface of the earth lose their strength in response to the strong shaking of the earth, and the rise in the level of groundwater that moved through the cracks was covered with a cover large parts of adjacent fields by water)
