Arab Weather - Meteorologists at the Arab Weather Regional Center said that the latest advanced computer outputs indicate that large areas of northern and western Europe will be affected by a severe storm during the rest of the week, accompanied by very heavy rains, strong hailstorms and snowfall. The storm, which is expected to begin its direct impact on Friday, has been named Eowyn.
Specialists at the Arab Weather Regional Center explained that as a result of a polar air mass rushing directly towards the northwest of the European continent and the warmer ocean waters, this interaction between cold air and warm and humid weather systems in the ocean leads to the emergence of a deep air depression during the day today, which will develop in the coming days into a strong storm with low air pressure values reaching 944 millibars.
The storm will cover a huge area of western Europe in the coming days, including 7 European countries: Ireland, Britain, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Germany and neighboring countries. This Atlantic storm is accompanied by huge cold air fronts that will cause strong winds exceeding 200 km/h and rough waves exceeding 13 meters, with heavy rainfall in coastal areas and heavy snowfall in the rest of the regions. Temperatures are expected to drop below zero in several areas, where very cold weather prevails.
With the collapse of atmospheric pressure at the center of the storm, experts at the Arab Weather Center said that the phenomenon of "explosive cyclogenesis" or bomb cyclone was prominent in the storm, which is a weather phenomenon that results in a collapse in atmospheric pressure values to reach values similar to the atmospheric pressure values in tropical storms and hurricanes, but outside the tropical region. The storms that arise from this phenomenon do not acquire any tropical characteristics.
A bomb cyclone occurs when a cold air mass meets a warm, moist one, causing a drop in air pressure of 24 millibars in 24 hours. This type of weather phenomenon is most common in the North Atlantic Ocean.
The official meteorological offices issued a series of warnings due to the strength of the storm, including warnings to be aware of strong winds and high waves, in addition to road closures due to heavy snow accumulations and temperatures falling below freezing.
And God knows best.
