The latest satellite images also indicate that clouds at various altitudes are continuing to flow into the Kingdom at this time. These clouds are interspersed with rain clouds, which are currently primarily affecting parts of the northern part of the Kingdom, specifically Ajloun Governorate.
God willing, and according to the latest weather forecasts, the Kingdom is expected to continue to be affected today, Thursday, by a second-degree low-pressure system centered to the east of Turkey, accompanied by an extremely cold air mass with polar characteristics, whose influence will become more pronounced during the evening and night hours.
Today , temperatures will experience another significant drop, becoming 3-5 degrees Celsius cooler than average.
The weather will be cold, windy, and partly to mostly cloudy, with occasional rain, God willing, in the north and center of the Kingdom and parts of the eastern regions, accompanied by occasional hail in the highlands.
Strong westerly winds are blowing across the Kingdom, with intense gusts approaching 90 km/h, especially in open and high areas. This will cause dense dust waves to blow across desert roads and eastern plains.
Daytime recommendations:
1) Beware of strong winds, some of which may reach speeds exceeding 90 km/h. It is recommended to secure outdoor belongings.
2) Beware of the risks of reduced horizontal visibility on desert roads due to heavy dust waves.
3) Beware of the risks of valley flows and flash floods in some northern and central regions.
At night, a very cold air mass with polar characteristics will sweep into the Kingdom, causing temperatures to drop to levels unusual for late March. This will be accompanied by the possibility of snow showers over the high mountain peaks, which may accumulate for some time.
Temperatures will drop sharply, falling to unusually low levels for late March, approaching zero degrees Celsius in the high mountain peaks.
The weather will turn very cold and changeable, ranging from partly cloudy to cloudy. Precipitation will intensify during the early night hours in the north and center of the Kingdom, accompanied by hail showers that may be heavy at times over the highlands.
Gradually, during the night, as time passes and temperatures continue to drop, there is a chance for snow showers to fall on the peaks of the high mountains, whether in the north, center, or south of the Kingdom, in addition to the peaks of the northeastern Badia. It may accumulate for some time, especially on the peaks of the Jerash and Ajloun mountains. It is also likely to accumulate at times on the peaks of Al-Qadisiyah and Al-Rashadiyah in Tafilah Governorate, the peaks of Shobak and southern Taybeh, and the peaks surrounding Petra and Wadi Musa.
Winds will be moderate westerly, slower than during the day, except in the southern regions where winds will remain active westerly with strong gusts, especially over the mountains.
Night recommendations:
1) Be aware of the risks of some valleys overflowing due to rainfall, especially in the north and center of the Kingdom.
2) Beware of the low temperatures and the radical change in the weather, which requires wearing warm clothes.
3) Beware of the risk of slipping on high mountain roads due to hail or snow showers.
4) Ensure safe use of heating equipment.
