Weather of Arabia - The Seismological Center in the Sultanate of Oman announced that "an earthquake measuring 4.1 degrees on the Richter scale struck the city of Duqm on the coast of the Arabian Sea."

 

According to the report issued by the Seismological Center at Sultan Qaboos University, the earthquake occurred at 7:55 am today, Sunday 2/19/2022 AD, and the intensity was described by the center as light.

 

The Seismology Center at Sultan Qaboos University revealed that it had recorded 55 earthquakes felt since its inception in the Sultanate of Oman, ranging in magnitude from 2.5 to 3.5 on the Richter scale, and some of them exceeding 4.5 on the Richter scale at sea, stressing that the strongest earthquake recorded in the Sultanate of Oman occurred on March 12, 2002 with a magnitude of 5.1. degrees on the Richter scale near the state of Madha. The center intends to add 6 new monitoring stations, bringing the total number of stations to 26 monitoring stations, to enhance the efficiency and bridge the gaps between the existing stations.
