The authorities counted about 18,000 people affected, while more than 30,000 people were displaced from their homes. Thousands of homes were uprooted or severely damaged by the cyclone.

It is noteworthy that the tropical cyclone reached the eastern coast of the Big Island, which was accompanied by heavy rain and winds of 165 km / h, after it hit the French island of Reunion. The cyclone first hit an agricultural coastal area extending over 150 km, and sparsely populated, before heading west into the country, causing floods in rivers that destroyed the rice fields in the center of the country, which is considered the "reservoir" of Madagascar.

In the same context, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies warned that about 4.4 million people are at risk with the cyclone making landfall in 14 provinces in Madagascar.
