Arab Weather - Weather experts at the Arab Weather Regional Center said that the latest computer outputs indicate that Iraq will continue to be affected by a polar air mass of very cold origin towards Iraq, and its effect will deepen tonight and Saturday, so the weather will be very cold, especially at night, with the chances of precipitation continuing at intervals, God willing.
During the hours of Friday/Saturday night, the effect of the very cold polar air mass deepens towards Iraq, so temperatures drop and the weather becomes remarkably cold in all areas, including the capital Baghdad, and turns very cold during the late night hours, dawn and early morning, especially in the northern and western regions, and it is possible for frost to form and frost to occur in parts of those areas.
The deepening of the polar winds coincides with some precipitation, as the weather gradually turns cloudy starting from the western regions with rain falling during the late night hours and dawn in western Anbar and Rutba, and the area of rainfall expands to include most areas of northern Iraq, and as a result of the flow of very cold winds through the various layers of the atmosphere, especially those close to the surface of the earth, it is expected that the rain will be frozen from time to time, especially in the northern and western regions and may sometimes be in the form of snowfall, while snow falls on the mountain peaks in the northern regions.
On Saturday, Iraq will remain under the influence of a very cold polar air mass, which will be located over Iraq during the day. Therefore, temperatures will drop further and cloudy and cold weather will prevail in most areas and very cold over the mountainous heights. God willing, showers of rain will fall on areas of the north, center and west of the country, which will be frozen from time to time, with snow falling over the mountain peaks in the northern regions.
Very cold and active northwesterly winds are blowing, causing dust waves in desert areas that have not seen any rainfall.
During the hours of Saturday/Sunday night, there is still a chance in the first part of the night for rain or freezing rain to fall on some areas of the central and northern parts of the country, in the form of clear snow over the mountain peaks, while the amount of clouds will decrease with the late night hours and turn to bitter cold with temperatures dropping below zero degrees Celsius in the western and northern regions, and frost will form in large areas and freezing will occur in areas of water accumulations, especially in the north and west of Iraq.
And God knows best.
