The first plant to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere in the world

ArabiaWeather.com - The Swiss company, Climeworks, has built the world's first environmentally friendly plant that extracts and absorbs carbon dioxide from the Earth's atmosphere, which is the main cause of global warming.

The factory will be opened in September or October of this year 2016, near Zurich.

Direct air capture technology will be used to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, which relies on fiber filter materials treated with special chemicals such as amines and ammonia derivatives associated with carbon dioxide. Similar filtering techniques are used on the International Space Station and submarines.
