Weather of Arabia - Day of Tarwiyah, which is the eighth day of the month of Dhul-Hijjah, is the day on which the pilgrims set out for Mina, where the person performing Hajj is in ihram, while the individual and the one performing Hajj remain in ihram, and the pilgrims follow the Sunnah of the Prophet in spending the night in Mina and pray five prayers there: noon, afternoon. , Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr. This dawn is the dawn of the day of Arafat.
The reason for calling it the Day of Tarwiyah is because the pilgrims used to drink water in order to use it in the following days. The scholar Al-Babarti said in “Al-Inaya Sharh Al-Hidaya”:
“The Day of Tarwiyah was called that because people used to quench their thirst with water on this day and carry the water in containers to Arafat and Mina.”
It was also called the Day of Tarwiyah because of the reasoning received on it from Abraham, peace be upon him, regarding the issue of slaughtering his son Ishmael, and the scholar Al-Aini mentioned in “Al-Bina’ah Sharh Al-Hidaya”:
“The Day of Tarwiyah was called that because Abraham, peace be upon him, saw on the night of the eighth that someone was saying to him: God Almighty is commanding you to slaughter your son. When morning came, he began to think about this matter. Is this from God or from Satan? So it was called the Day of Tarwiyah.”

The Day of Tarwiyah is the eighth day of the month of Dhul-Hijjah, when pilgrims go to Mina to spend the night there. Ibn Qudamah mentioned in “Al-Mughni” that the reason for calling this day by this name is because they used to drink water there and prepare it for the Day of Arafah. It was also said that Abraham, peace be upon him, That night he saw in a dream that he was slaughtering his son, so he began to ponder within himself whether it was a dream or a command from God, so it was called the Day of Tarwiyah.
The Day of Tarwiyah is one of the ten virtuous days that God - Glory be to Him - swore by in the Holy Qur’an, saying: “By dawn and ten nights.” Work on these days is better than on others, as Abdullah bin Abbas - may God be pleased with them both - narrated on the authority of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace: “There is no work on any days that is better than on these days” (meaning the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah). They said: Not even jihad? He said: “Not even jihad unless a man goes out and risks his life and his money, and does not return with anything.”
On this day, pilgrims begin their preparations for the great ritual, and prepare to stand on the Day of Arafat, the day of forgiveness, glory, and liberation from the flames.
Pilgrims spend the Day of Tarwiyah in the hair of Mina, 7 kilometers northeast of the Grand Mosque, following the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace. The Day of Tarwiyah was named by this name. Because people used to drink water from it and carry what they needed.
After the Day of Tarwiyah, pilgrims flock to the upper part of Mount Arafa, 12 kilometers from Mecca, to witness the Great Waqf and perform the greatest pillar of Hajj. At sunset on the Day of Arafa, the pilgrims leave for Muzdalifah, then to Mina on the morning of the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah to stone Jamarat al-Aqaba. It is the nearest Jamarat to Mecca, then sacrifice the sacrificial animal for the Hajj Tamattu and Qiran, then shave or cut the hair, then head to Mecca to perform Tawaf Al-Ifadah.
