Arabia Weather - Despite the snow covering its crater and slopes, the Etna volcano erupted on the Italian island of Sicily. Etna Volcano is considered the most active volcano in Europe.
An alert was issued for flights, although Vincenzo Bellini International Airport in Catania, the largest city in eastern Sicily, was not affected by the volcanic activity, according to the Italian news agency ANSA.
Video clips documented lava erupting from the crater of Etna volcano, which rises 3,357 meters high and is located on the eastern coast of the island of Sicily. The Italian Institute of Volcanology indicated that the height of the Etna volcano is increasing as a result of the accumulation of volcanic materials on the sides of its four craters.
