Weather of Arabia - The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia set a new record in the field of agriculture when one of the extension farms affiliated with the research unit for agriculture with renewed water in Wadi Bin Hashbal in the Asir region entered the Guinness Book of World Records.
The Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadhli, was handed the certificate of registration in the World Encyclopedia during a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Saudi Rural Program in Riyadh.
The farm, which entered the encyclopedia, is distinguished by its huge area of 3.2 million square meters , and is divided into two parts, each of which includes a concrete tank with a capacity of 500 cubic meters, in addition to an automatic irrigation network that covers all the crops in the two fields. The farm also contains 5 air-conditioned greenhouses, as well as Next to a number of buildings, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The farm relies on treated water to irrigate crops, and irrigation operations are carried out in several stages by experts and specialists in various specialties, including specializations related to irrigation, fertilization, prevention, and the use of equipment . These experts are responsible for supervising and monitoring all agricultural operations on the farm. The farm includes 50 fields designated for growing fruit trees , in addition to plans to reclaim and cultivate 20 additional fields in the future.
The farm's crops are amazingly diverse, and include the cultivation of various types of fruits such as lemons, oranges, tangerines, pomegranates, grapes, figs, almonds, and olives . In addition, the farm has trial fields featuring a variety of agricultural varieties, including the cultivation and production of alfalfa as a supplement to the diverse crop range.
