Arab Weather - Dr. Ammar Al-Sakaji, head of the Jordanian Astronomical Society, said that the giant moon (November Full Moon) was completed at 12:27 am on Saturday, November 16, 2024, as it was at an altitude of about 80 degrees above the horizon, and at this moment the distance between it and the Earth was approximately 355 thousand kilometers, and it passed through the perigee region (i.e. the closest possible to the Earth) on Thursday, November 14 at 2:18 pm Jordan time, and the giant moon passed at the moment of its completion in the constellation Aries.

Last supermoon of 2024

This is the last supermoon for the year 2024. The phenomenon of supermoons occurs several times a year, and the next supermoon will occur on October 7, 2025 of next year.
The giant or large moon is called astronomically the perigee moon, and is caused by the full moon being "near" the perigee point in its orbit around the Earth (which is the closest point in the orbit).

The supermoon appears slightly larger and brighter than the regular full moon, that is, it is about 7% larger than average and 15% brighter. However, only specialists and experienced observers of full moons and crescents can distinguish these differences.

There is no relationship between the phenomenon of supermoons and the prediction or occurrence of earthquakes, as earthquakes occur mainly due to geophysical factors.
