Arab Weather - Gaza Municipality spokesman Asem Al-Nabih said on Monday that the displaced people in the Gaza Strip are suffering from extremely tragic conditions due to the rain with the beginning of the impact of the low pressure system.
Al-Nabih stressed that the operations of draining rainwater and sewage are almost complicated due to the massive damage to the sewage networks and the rain.
He explained that the damage included all sewage stations and pumps, and affected 175,000 meters of sewage networks and 15,000 meters of rainwater networks in Gaza City.
He said that there is an overflow of sewage and rainwater to dozens of homes and shelters, but we cannot deal with them all due to the massive destruction, limited capabilities and lack of necessary equipment and materials.
Al-Nabih added that the risk of flooding of Sheikh Radwan Pond is still possible unless immediate maintenance of the main transmission line is started, in light of the need for the necessary maintenance materials.
Al-Nabih called on international organizations to urgently intervene and help alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians and provide the minimum services in light of the difficult circumstances.
The latest weather forecasts in "Arab Weather" indicate that the effects of the low pressure system are expected to intensify in the Gaza Strip this evening, tonight and Tuesday, as it is expected that rain will fall more heavily in the Strip on Monday/Tuesday night and at dawn and on Tuesday morning, which increases the possibility of floods forming and the water level rising more than it is now.
