The Ministry of Water and Irrigation: The average rainfall has increased to (72%) and the dam stock has reached (85) million cubic meters

Arab Weather - The Ministry of Water and Irrigation said that the recent air depression raised the volume of cumulative rain falling from the beginning of the rainy season on all governorates of the Kingdom until this morning, Saturday, about 5890 million cubic meters, accounting for 72% of the long-term annual rate, while the last air depression provided from Rain water and dams’ valley run-off reached about 1,250 thousand cubic meters (1,250 million m3), raising the total storage of dams to 85 million m3 at a rate of 30% of their storage capacity, which currently stands at 280 million m3, and the quantities entering the northern dams were concentrated in the highest in King Talal Dam 800 thousand m3 while The dams of the Southern Kingdom did not enter any quantities.

The ministry indicated that the highest amount of rain fell on Ajloun, amounting to 17.4 mm during the past 24 hours, while the governorate of Ajloun recorded an overall average of 10.5 mm, Amman 4.4 mm, Balqa 6.7 mm, Madaba 2.5 mm, Zarqa 2.3 mm, Jerash 7.2 mm, Mafraq 1.2 mm, Irbid 5.8 mm, Karak 0.1 mm, Tafila 0.1 mm, while Ma'an and Aqaba did not record any precipitation.

Regarding precipitation rates, it showed that its monitoring stations recorded a percentage of rainfall from the beginning of the season to the long-term average in Irbid 95.9%, Ajloun 82.8%, Jerash 48.3%, Mafraq 50%, Zarqa 75.8%, Amman 88.7%, Salt 94.5%, Madaba 61%, Karak 53.3%, Tafileh 38.3%, Shobak 37%, Maan 61%, Aqaba 183%.

The Ministry/Jordan Valley Authority stated that the total amount of rainwater that entered the dams from the beginning of the rainy season is about (44) million cubic metres, and that the highest quantities of water that entered from the last depression on the King Talal Dam amounted to (800) thousand cubic metres, raising the storage ratio in it to 65.7%. Indicating that these quantities are close to last year for dams used for irrigation, except for dams that are used for drinking and irrigation, where the percentage of storage is low , namely:

• The unit dam, which has a storage rate of 14.7%
• Al-Mujib was filled with 3.3% of the total stock
• The percentage of storage in the Wala dam, which is used for underground feeding, was 13.7%.

As for the southern dams that are used for irrigation and for industrial uses, the percentage of storage in them is very small, and they are:

• The Tannour dam has a storage rate of less than one percent
• Al-Karak and Al-Lajjun filled about 12% of its total reserves.
