Unfortunately, the issue of dumping waste, food and drink waste, and the culture of indiscriminate throwing is abundant in Jordan and in more than one tourist site, despite the efforts exerted by the competent authorities in every region in the country to limit the spread of this phenomenon, and to educate citizens and residents on the importance of preserving nature. environment, and raising awareness of environmental issues through numerous campaigns.

There are severe fines for those who dump waste in public places, especially sites that generate income for tourism.

Punishment for littering in public places in Jordan

Jordanian law punishes perpetrators of the violation of indiscriminate throwing within what is known as the “Framework Law for Waste Management” that was promulgated in 2020. Those who throw waste and leftovers from trips and picnics in public places, gardens, parks, religious and tourist sites, and public institutions will be punished with a fine starting from 50 dinars ($70). ) and amounts to 1,000 dinars (1,400 dollars), and the Jordanian law punishes those who randomly throw waste in public places for at least a week, and if it is observed that repeated waste is dumped in this way, the Jordanian law resorts to doubling the penalty.
