Arab Weather - Meteorologists at the Arab Weather Regional Center said that readings from the so-called computer simulation indicate the position of the Siberian high above the region, specifically above eastern Turkish lands and neighboring countries, which imposes more stable but very cold weather in several regions of Europe and Asia as a result of the severe cold accompanying the high, which is scientifically called "Continental Polar Air Mass."
Many countries in Asia and Europe are experiencing early and unusually cold Siberian weather for this time of year, with freezing and icing in several areas as temperatures drop significantly below zero degrees Celsius. If we take Turkey for example, it is expected to continue recording negative temperatures, with lows ranging between 13-15 degrees Celsius below zero in some areas amidst the freezing weather.
According to the latest reports from NOAA, climate model outputs indicate a 60% chance of a weak La Niña developing slowly in the tropical Pacific Ocean over the coming months. The phenomenon is expected to continue until January-March 2025, potentially impacting global weather patterns.
With the region being exposed to a severe cold wave and the early positioning of the Siberian high over South Asia and Eastern Europe, the effects of the La Niña phenomenon have clearly appeared in the atmosphere. Statistically, the growth of the La Niña phenomenon is closely linked to the frequency of cold waves, as it is linked to the intensification of the influence of the Siberian high on the Arabian Peninsula and the Levant during the winter. The La Niña phenomenon often affects the Arab region with low rainfall in the Levant, which means that the region may statistically be exposed to more cold waves in the future.
And God knows best.
