The ritual of the Arabs - the popular heritage did not leave an accident or an occasion except and linked it to a story or an example transmitted by generations, and like other events and occasions, the winter season abounded with a large number of stories and proverbs, the most important of which is the story of the fifties winter and the Saudis.
Most of us have heard about Saad Al-Zabh, Saad Al-Khabiya, Saad Al-Saud, Saad "Swallow" or swallowing, but few know their story or the occasion that prompted our grandparents to release these particular names on these specific days of winter.
The fiftieth winter consists of four saudis, so what are they and why were they called by that name?
The story shared by folklore to this day tells that a young man named "Saad" decided to travel, and the atmosphere was warm when he decided to go out during the winter season, and his father advised him to carry with him what warms himself from the cold, whether of fur or firewood, except Saad was not listening to his father’s advice.
After Saad crossed the middle of the road, the weather suddenly changed and the cold became severe, and heavy rain and snow fell, and Saad had no choice but to slaughter his camel, which he possessed, so that he could protect himself from the cold. So this period, which runs from 1-13 February, was called "Saad al-Zabh".
After a few days, Saad felt hungry and had no choice but to eat meat of camel meat. Thus, these days he was called "Saad Iblaa" , which runs from February 13 to February 25. After the storm ended and the sun rose, Farah Saad celebrated his survival and was called "Saad Al-Saud", which starts from February 26 to March 10.
The Saad then , fearing that the storm is repeated again, industry coat his camel 's hair, as taken from the camel meat remaining, and the so- called "Saad crypts" which is the period from March 10 -22 March and marks the beginning of the spring equinox.
It is noteworthy that the fiftieth consists of fifty days, beginning on January 30 of each year and ending on March 22, and whether the story of the fiftieth winter and the Saudis is correct or not, it remains from our popular heritage spanning hundreds of years, which carries lessons and wisdom and much Of stories.
