Weather of Arabia - The tall tree of "Our Master Al-Khader" is located at the southern entrance to the town of Kafr Kifiya in the Koura district of Irbid Governorate, on the side of the town of Deir Yusef, and it is considered one of the oldest historical trees in Jordan.

Throughout the successive historical ages, this tree was a resting station for commercial caravans heading from southern Syria to Palestine and vice versa.

Our master Al-Khader tree is dying!

It was named after our master al-Khidr, who is believed to have resided under it for a period of time. It is a type of oak tree ( Quercus Aegilops ), about 600 years old, with a leg circumference of about 4 meters, a diameter at the chest of 2 meters, and a height of about 5 meters. It rains, and its crown covers about (25) square metres.

It is now noticed that the vegetative growth of this tree began to decline dramatically and dangerously, as its leaves and branches began to decline dramatically and dangerously, and its leaves and branches began to turn yellow and tend to turn brown.

It is noted that the natural renewal of new branches and buds is very few, and its growth is very slow, and it has become in a state of continuous stiffness, in addition to the existence of a “hollow cavity” in its stem, as the “stem borer” insect invaded it and damaged it by sabotaging and damaging it.

The residents of the region appealed to the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Environment and the relevant bodies to work in order to preserve this rare historical tree, according to Dr. Ahmed Al-Sharida.
